Why 'Vance/Sweeney 2028' Is Going Viral: Sydney Sweeney Wins Praise

In a recent episode of Megyn Kelly’s show, the host showed a clip of Sydney Sweeney’s interview about the controversy surrounding her American Eagle ad campaign.

The interviewer asked, “Specifically in the in this political climate, white people shouldn’t joke about genetic superiority. That was the criticism, broadly speaking. Since you are talking about this, I just wanted to give you an opportunity to talk about that specifically.”

Sweeney replied calmly, without controversy, “I think that when I have an issue that I wanna speak about, people will hear it.”

Megyn Kelly praised Sydney’s response, calling it “very boss-like.” Meanwhile, Michael Knowles, sitting next to Ben Shapiro, said:

“It’s a new meme… She’s the new spokesman for the American right. And I’m willing to go so far as to say, right now, I’m formally endorsing a ticket of Vance/Sweeney 2028. The greatest message discipline in the Republican Party.”

Knowles’ statement led to “Vance/Sweeney 2028” going viral on social media and even hitting news headlines. On Fox News, Jesse Watters invited Benny Johnson to comment, who said:

“Everybody is obsessed right now, the government shut down, but that is the single greatest shut down in the history of media. What Sydney Sweeney did right there, was a masterclass in destroying bad faith arguments.”

Johnson also criticized Sweeney’s interviewer, calling her an:

“insufferable passive-aggressive feline questioner”

and accused her of using a wrap-up smear tactic of Democrats.

Sweeney on the American Eagle Ad Campaign

In a GQ interview published on November 4, Sweeney discussed her reaction to the ad campaign:

“I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”

She also noted the president and vice president speaking about the campaign, calling it “surreal.” When asked about American Eagle’s stocks rising by 38%, she said:

“I was aware of the numbers as it was going… I knew at the end of the day what that ad was for, and it was great jeans, it didn’t affect me one way or the other.”
