Security in Peshawar and its surrounding areas has been heightened due to increasing militancy in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Snipers have been deployed at key checkpoints in areas such as Mattani, Hassan Khel, Badaber, Regi, Warsak, Aarmaar, and other sensitive locations bordering the Khyber district.
According to sources within the provincial administration, Peshawar Police will soon receive thermal technology to improve surveillance and monitoring at critical locations. This move comes as the law and order situation continues to deteriorate, prompting authorities to reinstate special snap checking — a practice that had not been used in nearly five years.
The Pakistan Army and local police forces have stepped up blockades and inspections to restrict the movement of criminal elements and ensure public safety. Strict vigilance is also being maintained along major highways and all entry and exit points to the city.
The resumption of daily snap checking comes in response to a recent rise in militant attacks targeting law enforcement agencies and police officers in the southern parts of KP. Authorities are prioritizing security measures to curb the growing threats and protect the public.
