Senator Irfan Siddiqui Placed on Ventilator After Health Deteriorates

10 November, 2025 10:55

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui has been placed on a ventilator after his health condition worsened, his family confirmed on Monday.

According to family sources, the senator’s condition has deteriorated significantly, and he is now receiving medical support on a ventilator. Due to his illness, Senator Siddiqui will not attend today’s important Senate session, where the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill is scheduled for discussion and voting.

Earlier, the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Law and Justice approved the draft of the proposed amendment, which will be presented in the Senate today. The session, set to begin at 11 a.m., will include the presentation of the committee report by Senator Farooq H. Naek, followed by Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, who will move the amendment bill for approval.

Sources said coalition partners have not yet reached a final agreement on some parts of the amendment. The Awami National Party (ANP) has suggested renaming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while another proposal seeks to increase the number of provincial assembly seats in Balochistan.

Government officials have reportedly assured ANP that their concerns will be addressed but have requested more time to discuss the proposal related to Balochistan’s assembly seats.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui, who represents Punjab, has been serving in the Senate since March 2021 and will continue his term until March 2027.
