Jackie Chan Death Hoax Debunked: Hong Kong Star ‘Alive & Well’ Amid Viral Social Media Rumors

11 November, 2025 13:31

Hong Kong martial artist, actor, and filmmaker Jackie Chan, renowned for his action-packed performances and comic timing, has once again found himself at the center of false online claims. Recently, social media posts began circulating, falsely stating that the 71-year-old actor had passed away due to complications from decades-old on-set injuries.

According to India TV News, the misleading posts on platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) claimed that Chan’s family had confirmed his death. One post read, “Jackie Chan, 71, passes away after battle with complications from decades of on-set injuries, family confirms heartbreaking loss…” Another suggested that he had been undergoing treatment for months before his alleged death. These posts have now been dismissed by several media outlets, with sources close to Chan confirming that he is “alive and well.”

The posts have since been removed from social media, but the hoax caused considerable worry among fans. Chan and his family have not formally commented on the false claims. This is not the first time such rumors have surfaced; in 2015, similar reports led Chan to clarify, “First of all, don’t worry! I’m still alive.”

On the professional front, Chan was last seen in The Shadow’s Edge, released in China on August 16, and starred in Karate Kid: Legends. He is also set to appear in New Police Story 2, Project P (post-production), Five Against a Bullet (in development), and is rumored to be involved in Rush Hour 4.
