Pakistan has successfully developed a fully secure mobile phone, specifically designed for government officials. The device is part of a pilot project undertaken by the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), with both hardware and software entirely manufactured within the country.
According to NTC officials, the secure handset operates on a specially designed operating system that is not connected to the internet, significantly reducing the risk of cyberattacks. All applications on the phone are locally developed, and the device is compatible with SIM cards from any telecom operator in Pakistan.
“The device has no backup capability, making it impossible to extract data in the event of theft or any security breach,” NTC officials highlighted. This ensures that communications through the phone cannot be monitored or intercepted, providing full security for sensitive government communications.
Officials emphasized that the phone is intended to safeguard confidential information and strengthen cybersecurity measures for government operations. With this development, Pakistan joins a select group of countries capable of producing fully secure mobile communication devices for official use.
