Topher is a talented musician and a former Air Force cryptologic language analyst from Mississippi. He is also known for his conservative views and political activism. In 2021, he gained attention for performing a song called The Patriot at a Trump rally. The song was controversial because its lyrics included lines that many interpreted as supporting the January 6 Capitol attack.

Earlier this year, Townsend decided to create a virtual gospel singer using artificial intelligence (AI). He used different AI tools, like ChatGPT for choosing a name, Suno for making music tracks, and Artlist.io for designing Solomon Ray’s appearance. He even co-wrote the lyrics with ChatGPT. Christian artist Forrest Frank, for example, expressed concern on Instagram. He said that AI doesn’t have the Holy Spirit inside, and therefore, he doesn’t think AI-generated Christian music is authentic.

Despite the criticism, Solomon Ray’s music has been successful. His EP, Faithful Soul, reached the top spot on iTunes Top 100 Christian and Gospel Albums. Songs like Find Your Rest and Goodbye Temptation are also doing well on Billboard charts.

Topher has expressed pride in Solomon Ray’s achievements, calling it a new chapter in gospel music. He believes AI can help reach more people and bring new energy to the genre.
