WhatsApp introduces draft feature for status updates

WhatsApp is working on a new feature that users have wanted for years. According to recent reports, the company is developing a “Save as draft” option for status updates. This will let users continue editing their status later if they get interrupted.

The feature is reportedly included in WhatsApp v2.25.36.6. If a user tries to exit a half-finished status, a pop-up will appear with options like Save as draft, Discard, or Continue editing. The saved draft will automatically show up the next time the user opens the status editor.

This update solves a common frustration: until now, closing the editor meant losing all progress. Instagram has had a drafts feature for a long time, and WhatsApp is finally catching up.

In addition, WhatsApp is also testing a special animated “2026” sticker for Layout statuses. This sticker appears when adding multiple images in a grid and can be customised in green, red, or purple. Since it’s a time-limited feature, it should be available soon.

Both the draft option and the 2026 sticker are still in development and not yet visible to users. However, WhatsApp is clearly expanding creative tools, and Pakistani users can expect a smoother, more flexible status experience in the coming weeks.
