Pakistan Plans 3,000 EV Charging Stations by 2030

01 December, 2025 20:21

Pakistan is moving forward with its plan to promote electric vehicles in the country. The government has announced that it aims to set up 3,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Pakistan from 2025 to 2030.

For the current year, the government has allocated 240 new charging stations. These stations will be installed with the help of private companies, while different government departments will monitor the project. These include the Ministry of Industries and Production, NEECA, the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), NEPRA, and various power distribution companies.

This project is part of the Draft New Energy Vehicle Policy, which has been prepared to increase the use of electric vehicles in Pakistan. The goal is to make EVs more common and easier to use by improving the country’s charging infrastructure.

Since the government issued the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and Battery Swapping Stations Regulations on October 24, 2024, it has already granted 72 licenses to companies for setting up EV charging stations.

The new policy and upcoming charging stations are expected to support clean energy, reduce pollution, and make electric vehicles more practical for everyday use.
