OGRA Clarifies No Change in Gas Prices After Conflicting Reports
The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has released its winter gas supply schedule, affecting domestic consumers in Sindh. According to the plan, households will face gas cuts every night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The company cited a severe shortfall in gas supply as the reason for the adjustment.
A company spokesperson said the schedule is part of a seasonal load management plan to use limited resources more efficiently. The plan follows the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved framework for gas distribution.
Initially, SSGC had not planned to implement load-shedding for residential users in Sindh or Balochistan. However, the steep drop in available gas forced the company to introduce nighttime cuts. These are needed to rebuild line-pack levels for the next day’s domestic demand.
The spokesperson also noted that the CNG sector will be affected. Periodic weekly closures will be enforced as part of the broader effort to conserve gas.
