Fire breaks out at clothing factory in Landhi Export Processing Zone

KARACHI: A fire broke out at a lunda (used clothing) factory in the Landhi Export Processing Zone on Monday.

Fire brigade teams reached the spot quickly and are busy trying to control the fire. According to officials, the fire started on the second floor of the factory, and five fire brigade vehicles are taking part in the operation.

Rescue officials said that no workers were present inside the factory at the time because it was a holiday. This helped prevent any loss of life.

A spokesperson for the Export Processing Zone said that the fire is expected to be brought under control soon. Firefighters are also using a snorkel (hydraulic ladder) to reach the upper floors and extinguish the flames.

Rescue teams remain at the scene as efforts continue to fully control the fire.
