Who Is Rayan bin Saeed Al-Asiri? Saudi Officer Injured Saving Life at Masjid Al Haram

The identity of a Saudi security officer who was injured while trying to save a man attempting suicide at Masjid Al Haram in Makkah has been revealed as Rayan bin Saeed Al-Asiri.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior, the incident took place on Thursday when a man jumped from the upper floor of the Grand Mosque in an apparent attempt to take his own life. Members of the Special Force for the Security of the Grand Mosque immediately responded to the emergency.

During the rescue attempt, Officer Rayan bin Saeed Al-Asiri tried to break the man’s fall and was injured in the process. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A photograph of Al-Asiri lying in a hospital bed was later shared by Inside the Haramain, showing him recovering from his injuries. The post praised his bravery and prayed for his swift recovery.

While receiving medical care, Al-Asiri received a phone call from Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz. The minister commended the officer’s courage, dedication, and alertness, and personally checked on his health.

Prince Abdulaziz described the officer’s actions as a humane and noble act, saying it reflected the highest values of sacrifice and selflessness. He added that Al-Asiri’s response went beyond professional duty and demonstrated the strong moral principles upheld by Saudi security personnel serving at Islam’s holiest site.

The minister also said the incident highlighted the high level of preparedness and professional competence of security forces in handling emergencies inside the Grand Mosque.

The call concluded with prayers for Al-Asiri’s speedy recovery and wishes for his safe return to duty, serving worshippers and visitors at Masjid Al Haram.
