PM Shehbaz Sharif Hails Pakistan-China Ties at Chinese National Day Ceremony

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, describing the occasion as a celebration of unity and an “indomitable spirit.” Addressing a ceremony marking China’s National Day, the prime minister said China plays an important role in promoting global peace, stability and development, while praising President Xi’s leadership for what he described as China’s remarkable progress.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said 2026 holds special significance for Pakistan-China relations as the two countries mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. He said the friendship between the two nations had withstood the test of time, adding that “our hearts are connected and beat together.” He described the relationship with China as a fundamental pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy and emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Highlighting economic and agricultural cooperation, Shehbaz Sharif said 1,000 Pakistani agricultural graduates had completed training in China, while another group of 1,000 people was preparing to travel to the country for training. He welcomed progress in the agricultural sector and said Pakistan and China were now entering the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, known as CPEC 2.0, aimed at expanding cooperation and development between the two countries.
