Public holiday announced for Shab-e-Miraj – check details

Kuwait and Oman have announced a public holiday on the occasion of Shab-e-Miraj. The holiday will be on January 18, and all government offices and institutions will remain closed. Shab-e-Miraj will be observed on the night of 27th Rajab 1447.

Schools and colleges in Kuwait and Oman will also remain closed. However, the United Arab Emirates will not have a public holiday for Shab-e-Miraj.

In Kuwait, three holidays will be observed for Shab-e-Miraj. Since Friday, January 16, is already a weekend day, the holidays will continue from January 16 to January 18.

The government has also decided to give holidays on Saturday, January 17, and Sunday, January 18, with Sunday considered an alternative holiday. Work will resume as usual on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Additionally, in the UAE, 18 years of age is recognized as legal adulthood, allowing young people to make decisions without parental permission.
