PESHAWAR—The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration has declared that number plates with the names of notable politicians, such as Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and PTI founder Imran Khan, will be put up for auction.
According to Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Fakhr-e-Jahan, the auction is scheduled for January 27, 2026, at Nishtar Hall in Peshawar. During an interview with a private television channel, the minister explained that the highest bidder will be awarded the plate featuring their preferred national or political figure. The starting bid for these unique plates has been set at Rs1 million.
Minister Fakhr-e-Jahan further noted that the auction will be conducted in stages and will include plates associated with other national leaders, well-known individuals, and specific regions or towns. The initiative has already generated significant interest among car enthusiasts, and the provincial administration anticipates a substantial boost to the national treasury.
Citizens interested in acquiring these unique license plates can apply through the Dastak app, which has reportedly already received a high volume of requests. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise and Taxation Department has released an official notification regarding the sale.
Prospective participants must submit their applications via the Dastak app by January 26, 2026, to be eligible for the bidding process.
