Pakistan supports peaceful solution to Iran crisis, Highlights Regional Stability: FO
ISLAMABAD, 15 January 2026 – Pakistan has expressed support for a peaceful solution to the ongoing crisis in Iran, the Foreign Office said during its weekly briefing. Islamabad noted that recent protests in Iran have caused hardships for civilians and emphasized that a stable Iran is crucial for regional peace.
A Foreign Office spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, said Pakistan is closely monitoring developments in Iran and hopes the country will overcome its current challenges soon. “Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region and will continue to play a constructive role in maintaining calm,” the spokesperson added.
During the briefing, the Foreign Office strongly rejected recent comments by the Indian army chief. Pakistan reiterated its condemnation of ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting reported mistreatment of minorities and the spread of hate-driven narratives.
Pakistan-Qatar Relations: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the Amir of Qatar, focusing on bilateral cooperation. Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the growth in Pakistan-Qatar relations and agreed to stay in close contact.
Pakistan-Bahrain Relations: Former President Asif Ali Zardari is on an official visit to Bahrain, meeting senior officials to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.
OIC Council Meeting: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar attended the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah. He presented Pakistan’s stance on regional issues, including:
Support for Somalia’s sovereignty and opposition to actions undermining Somaliland
Condemnation of Israel’s political aggression
Discussions with Iranian counterparts on Middle East stability and regional security
The Foreign Office said Pakistan is in contact with the United States regarding immigration-related policy matters. Washington is reportedly reviewing its visa policy, and Islamabad is closely monitoring developments.
