Pakistan Launches First Official AI Avatar ‘Laila’

The federal government of Pakistan has officially launched the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI) avatar, named ‘Laila’.

At the launch event, the Minister for Information and Technology stated, “Laila is a significant step towards promoting the use of AI in both public and private sectors.”

The special government ceremony was attended by senior policymakers and technology experts, who hailed the initiative as a major milestone in advancing artificial intelligence in Pakistan.

The federal minister explained that the AI avatar is not merely symbolic; it is capable of assisting in education, guiding citizens in accessing public services, and interacting with users in multiple languages.

Under the government’s strategic plan, by 2030, 100,000 individuals will receive AI training, 1,000 AI ventures will be funded, 400 university-based projects will be supported, and 50 sector-specific AI models will be developed.

Experts say this initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in achieving Pakistan’s economic and technological development goals, while also fostering innovation and digital skills among the youth.
