Queen Camilla Speaks Amid Prince Harry’s Court Battle
Queen Camilla stepped in to help ease King Charles’s strain as Prince Harry pursued his legal battle against a UK publisher. As the Duke of Sussex returned to the UK, the King departed for Scotland with his wife to attend official engagements. Amid growing attention surrounding Harry, Camilla made a public appearance in Edinburgh.
On Monday, for the launch of the National Year of Reading, Camilla visited the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh, where she shared an important message.
Camilla is an avid reader who believes in returning to books, especially in today’s AI-driven world.
‘Just to get everybody reading again, especially now, is so important’, she said. ‘The battle against these machines—get them back to books.’

At the event, Camilla was accompanied by Scottish writers such as Ian Rankin and Val McDermid, along with publishers and local school pupils. Iconic comic-strip characters Dennis the Menace and Gnasher from DC Thomson’s The Beano also made an appearance.
A National Literacy Trust survey conducted after 2025 highlighted the number of people across all ages who love to read books, which Camilla referenced during her visit.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry, emerging from court in London after wrapping his first day, confidently waved to reporters and smiled, saying the day had gone “very well.”
