Where Is Rimi Sen Now? From Bollywood Stardom to a Career in Dubai Real Estate
Rimi Sen, widely recognized for her roles in hits like Hungama, Dhoom, Golmaal, Phir Hera Pheri, and Johnny Gaddar, was one of Bollywood’s leading actresses in the 2000s. From appearing in Coca-Cola ads alongside Aamir Khan to sharing screen space with Salman Khan, Rimi was a familiar face in the industry. However, over time, she gradually reduced her film appearances and stepped away from the limelight.
Is Rimi now building a career in real estate in Dubai? In a recent interview with Buildcaps Real Estate LLC, she shared that Dubai has warmly welcomed professionals from the film industry. She praised the city’s structured real estate market, stating:
“You have to work only with agents and agencies. Developers do their work, agencies do their part, there is a proper system in place. In India, if you ask for two months’ brokerage, people look at you as if you have committed a cri*. Dubai has welcomed everyone warmly, there are mosques here, there are temples too. They think about everyone, and the city’s major focus is on how to make people’s lives better, easier, and more comfortable.”*
Reflecting on her Bollywood journey, Rimi admitted that she sabotaged her own career, taking full responsibility for the choices she made. She told Navbharat Times:
“I ruined my own career. I take responsibility for the choices I made in my career. I could survive for a decade because of my former career as an actress and I will always respect that. People invite you for events and ribbon cuttings and actors get paid well. I could become a producer because of my film career, the work I did in my 20s. All of this was possible because I was a known face.”
Rimi also revealed that acting came naturally to her, but she grew disillusioned with the glamorous yet limiting roles offered to actresses. Speaking to The Times of India, she said:
“I couldn’t finish my graduation so there were no jobs for me. I enjoyed acting but I was put off by the fact that actresses were solely used as a furniture in most commercial films back then. Today you see a blend of entertainment and meaningful content and people aren’t labelling actors or putting them in a box.”
Rimi Sen’s journey reflects a shift from Bollywood stardom to carving out a professional life outside the film industry, embracing real estate in Dubai while maintaining pride in her cinematic legacy.
