PTA Taxes on Samsung Phones Drop in Pakistan

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi has released a new Valuation Ruling, bringing great news for Samsung users. The latest update has lowered the customs values for premium Samsung phones, making flagship Android devices much more affordable.

Previously, phones like the S23 Ultra were heavily taxed based on their launch prices, but now Customs will calculate taxes based on the depreciated used market value.

“Flagship Killer” Deals – Big Savings

Many top-tier Samsung phones are now taxed like budget devices:

• Samsung S22 Ultra ($160): Falls into the $100–$200 slab, costing only Rs. 13,000 in tax.

• Samsung S23 Ultra ($255): Lands in the $200–$350 slab, paying roughly Rs. 31,640, very low for an “Ultra” device.

• Samsung S22 & S21 Series ($50–$80): These 5G phones now fall in the Entry Slab ($30–$100), with taxes around Rs. 4,500.

Older Flagships – Budget-Friendly Taxes

Older Samsung phones are now almost tax-free:

• Samsung S10 Series ($25): Minimum slab tax of Rs. 1,500.

• Samsung Note 20 ($59): Falls in the $30–$100 slab, paying just Rs. 4,500.
