Solar Panel prices rise ahead of summer – check new rates

LAHORE: Solar panel prices in Lahore and other cities of Pakistan have seen a sharp increase ahead of the summer season, when demand for solar energy usually rises.

Many Pakistani households are adopting solar energy to save on high electricity bills and deal with frequent power outages. A typical solar system includes solar panels, a charge controller, batteries (for off-grid setups), and an inverter.

Solar Panel Prices

The price of solar panels has gone up by Rs10 per watt, increasing from Rs30 to Rs40 per watt. This price hike has significantly increased the cost of full solar systems, adding as much as Rs200,000 to the total expense.

Latest Solar System Costs

Due to the rising panel prices, the cost of common solar setups is now:

• 5-kilowatt on-grid system: Rs650,000

• 7-kilowatt system: Rs750,000

• 10-kilowatt system: Rs1.1 million

• 12-kilowatt system: Rs1.25 million

• 15-kilowatt system: Rs1.5 million

The increase in solar panel prices is expected to affect many consumers who are planning to install solar systems this year. Despite the higher costs, solar energy remains a popular choice for households seeking reliable and sustainable electricity.
