Eight Killed in Road Accident Near Hyderabad on Mehran Highway

Hyderabad, Saturday (January 24, 2026): At least eight people were killed and two others injured in a tragic road accident on the Mehran Highway near Hyderabad, police confirmed on Saturday.

The accident happened when a car crashed into a speeding truck, causing severe damage to the vehicle. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured and deceased to a nearby hospital.

Five Children Among the Dead

According to SSP Jamshoro, the victims include five children and one woman, making the incident even more heartbreaking. The identities of the victims have not yet been made public.

Hospital sources said that the injured are currently receiving medical treatment and their condition is stable.

Truck Driver Taken Into Custody

Police confirmed that the truck driver has been arrested and is being questioned. A case has been registered, and investigators are trying to determine whether over-speeding or negligence caused the collision.

Initial findings suggest that the car was badly hit from the front, indicating a high-speed impact.

In a separate incident on Thursday, four people were killed and eight others injured when a truck overturned near Melowal village, close to Bhalwal.

Rescue 1122 officials said the truck was carrying fodder and 12 labourers. The vehicle reportedly lost balance and overturned, trapping several workers underneath.

Four people died on the spot, while the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Bhalwal.

Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of that accident.
