A new weather system has moved into Pakistan, triggering widespread rain and snowfall across several regions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Authorities have advised the public to remain vigilant as cold and wet conditions are expected to persist over the next few days.
Rainfall was recorded earlier in areas including Quetta, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, and Pishin, while snowfall has already begun in higher-altitude locations such as Kozhak Top, Sheila Bagh, and Loi Band. The PMD has forecast continued rainfall in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today until February 3, with snowfall expected in well-known hill stations, including Murree and the Galiyat.
Northern districts are also likely to be affected, with intermittent rain and snowfall predicted in Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Swat, and Kalam. Islamabad and nearby areas are expected to experience cold and partly cloudy conditions. In Balochistan, light rain and snowfall are anticipated in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Chagai, and Gwadar, while elevated regions may receive light snowfall. Parts of Gilgit-Baltistan are also forecast to see light rain and snow.
Rain is expected to begin in Abbottabad and surrounding districts, prompting authorities to issue safety advisories for residents and tourists. The PMD has urged travelers heading to hilly areas to take precautionary measures due to the risk of slippery roads and possible closures caused by snow accumulation.
As temperatures are expected to drop further, citizens—especially those in northern and high-altitude regions—have been advised to stay warm and exercise caution during travel.
