T20 World Cup: Indian Media Stirs Ban Propaganda as Pak Boycotts India
Indian media has begun advocating for sanctions against Pakistan following the country’s decision to skip its scheduled match against India in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Reports suggest the ICC will hold a virtual board meeting today to address the situation. While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly not yet formally notified the ICC of its decision, the meeting will determine Pakistan’s continued eligibility for the tournament.
Indian media outlets claim Pakistan could face severe repercussions, including a potential ban from the next tournament and heavy financial penalties. Furthermore, top ICC members may refuse to engage in future bilateral series with Pakistan. Other reported threats include a ban on foreign players participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and demands for the PCB to compensate broadcasters for financial losses.
Notably, while the Pakistani government has cleared the national team to participate in the T20 World Cup, it has specifically decided against playing the match against India scheduled for February 15.
