DG ISPR Says Protection of Saudi Arabia and Holy Sites Is Pakistan’s Top Priority

19 October, 2026 14:00

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that protecting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and, especially, the Holy Mosques is Pakistan’s top priority.

In an exclusive interview with Independent Arabia, he said Pakistan’s position on protecting the holy sites was clear and firm, and there could be no compromise on this matter.

He said Pakistan’s message had already been delivered through the country’s political leadership and Field Marshal. He added that the Pakistani public, political leadership and military leadership were deeply angry over attacks on holy sites in Saudi Arabia.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that escalating conflicts at any level would benefit no country. He stressed that expanding the military conflict in the Middle East was not in anyone’s interest and that reaching an agreement through negotiations was essential.

He said that if diplomatic efforts failed and military confrontation took place, the collective deterrence of the Makkah Alliance would come into action.

The DG ISPR said the alliance’s leadership and strategy were clear, and it had no aggressive intentions. He added that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye wanted peace, stability and prosperity for their people and the wider region.

He also stressed that Muslims needed to unite instead of fighting among themselves. He said escalating conflicts would benefit no one and that the alliance was not formed against any particular country.

According to the DG ISPR, the alliance’s main purpose is to promote peace, stability and security across the region.
