AI Creates Pokémon Fire Red Clone Using Only One Prompt

10 February, 2026 14:06

Artificial Intelligence is now doing more than just making images and videos. A Twitter user named Chris has revealed a fully playable Pokémon Fire Red clone, created using AI only. He used one prompt and did no manual coding at all.

The entire game was built with Claude Opus 4.6. According to Chris, the AI spent 1 hour and 30 minutes reasoning before generating the final code. The result is a working game that looks and feels like the classic Game Boy Pokémon era.

Gameplay and Features

Even though the game was made by AI, it includes many features that Pokémon fans know well. The game is clearly titled Pokémon Fire Red and copies core gameplay elements.

The video shared online shows several features:

  • Players can choose a starter Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle

  • A turn-based battle is shown between Charmander and a Rattata

  • NPCs talk to the player and offer help and guidance

  • A Poké Mart is available to buy Poké Balls and healing items

  • Players can explore the map and heal Pokémon at a Pokémon Centre

The graphics are simple and pixel-style, but the game systems work well. However, the video does not show any wild Pokémon encounters yet.

Copyright and Legal Concerns

This project has raised serious legal concerns. The AI did not make a parody. It directly used copyrighted names, titles, and gameplay mechanics. Nintendo has always been very strict about protecting the Pokémon brand.

Chris has made other AI-generated game clones before, including a Minecraft-style game, but this Pokémon project is his most complete and playable work so far.

It is still unclear how Nintendo will react. Some people believe AI helps creativity, while others worry about low-quality AI-made content. Big gaming companies, including Take-Two, have already warned about possible backlash against AI-created games. This project now sits at the center of the debate about AI, creativity, and copyright.
