SUPARCO shares moon sighting predictions for Ramadan 2026
ISLAMABAD: The SUPARCO has shared its scientific prediction for the sighting of the Ramadan moon this year.
According to the SUPARCO spokesperson, the new moon of Ramadan will be born on 17th February at 5:01 PM. By sunset on 18th February, the moon’s age is expected to be around 25 hours and 48 minutes. In coastal areas, the time between sunset and moonset is expected to be about 59 minutes.
Based on astronomical calculations, the moon is likely to be visible on the evening of 18th February. According to scientific predictions, 1st Ramadan is expected to begin on 19th February.
However, SUPARCO’s spokesperson emphasized that the final confirmation of the moon sighting will depend on actual visual observation. The official announcement for the start of the Islamic month will be made by the Ru’yat Hilal Committee.
