Samsung launches first official online trade-in platform in Pakistan

21 February, 2026 19:40

Samsung Pakistan has launched a new trade-in program on its official eStore (samsung.com/pk). This is the first fully online, brand-managed trade-in feature in the country.

With this program, customers can exchange their old phones and get instant credit to buy new Galaxy smartphones. It replaces the old system of offline shop exchanges with a smooth and transparent digital process.

The announcement was made by Samsung Pakistan’s head of sales, Javaid Ikram. For now, the program is available only in Lahore as a pilot project. The company plans to expand it across Pakistan later. This launch comes at a time when Pakistan’s e-commerce market is growing fast and is expected to cross PKR 500 billion by the end of 2026.

Direct-to-Consumer Strategy Gains Traction

Samsung is now focusing more on selling directly to customers through its own website instead of depending mainly on online marketplaces. In the past, platforms like Daraz led smartphone sales online. Now, Samsung wants to strengthen its own digital platform to earn better margins and build direct relationships with customers.

“This milestone is a major step forward in making premium technology more accessible, affordable, and sustainable for Pakistani consumers,” Ikram wrote on LinkedIn.

The program offers clear device valuation, doorstep exchange service, and supports environmental sustainability by encouraging recycling and reuse of old devices.

How It Works

Customers can submit old smartphones from any brand, if eligible, and get an instant value for their device. The discount is directly applied at checkout when buying a new Galaxy phone from the eStore. There is no need to visit a store. The value depends on the phone’s condition, brand, model, and working status. Usually, things like scratches, battery health, and overall performance affect the price.

The program may also connect with Samsung’s existing direct-to-consumer system, including installment plans and extended warranties already offered on the eStore.

Part of Larger Ecosystem Expansion

This trade-in feature adds to Samsung’s recent efforts in Pakistan. In February 2026, Samsung partnered with telecom operator Zong to launch the Galaxy S26 Series. Zong customer service centers also introduced a trade-in system to help users upgrade easily.

Samsung already runs a recycling program through its Authorized Warranty Service Providers, where customers can exchange old phones for vouchers. However, the new eStore program is more convenient because it offers instant discounts instead of vouchers.

Market Context and Timing

Pakistan’s e-commerce market crossed PKR 200 billion in annual sales by mid-2025 and is expected to exceed PKR 500 billion by the end of 2026. Smartphones are among the top-selling products in both business and consumer markets. More than 70% of online shopping traffic in Pakistan comes from mobile devices, and social commerce is also growing quickly.

Sustainability and Economic Pressure

With rising prices and economic pressure, many people are looking for affordable ways to upgrade their phones. The trade-in program helps lower the cost of new devices, especially for middle-class buyers who want premium smartphones. Samsung is also promoting recycling, which supports environmental protection.

What’s Next

Since the program is currently limited to Lahore, Samsung is likely testing how well it works before launching it nationwide. Ikram credited project lead Musayyab Alqai, team member Bilal Athar, and support from local management and the MENA regional team for making this possible.

“The future of smartphone upgrades has arrived — smarter, faster, and fully digital,” Javaid Ikram said, showing confidence in the program’s success.

If the program performs well, other companies may introduce similar online trade-in options in Pakistan.
