UAE Public Sector Eid Holidays
According to a statement from the authorities, all federal ministries, government agencies, and public sector departments will be closed from March 19 to March 22, 2026. Government offices will resume normal working hours on Monday, March 23.
The Federal Authority for Public Human Resources confirmed that the holidays apply to all federal institutions. This will allow employees to enjoy the celebrations fully with their families. Authorities said the decision aims to help the public celebrate Eid in an organized and joyful manner.
UAE Private Sector Eid Holidays
Private sector employees will enjoy Eid holidays from March 19 to March 21, 2026. Authorities noted that if Ramadan completes 30 days, March 22 may also be included. In this case, private sector workers could get four days off, aligning with public sector holidays.
Officials have advised citizens and residents to plan their travel and family programs in advance due to the upcoming holiday rush.
Travel and Safety Advisory During Eid
The Eid period often sees a significant increase in travel within and outside the UAE. Airports, shopping malls, and entertainment venues are expected to be crowded. Authorities have urged the public to take precautionary measures and prepare ahead to ensure safety and smooth celebrations.
Final Date of Eid Depends on Moon Sighting
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated according to the Islamic lunar calendar. The exact date may vary depending on the sighting of the moon. However, the government’s announcement ensures that both public and private sector employees have ample time to enjoy the festival.
