Trusting Afghan Government Is No Longer Safe: Khawaja Asif

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that Afghanistan has consistently supported terrorism and that it is no longer appropriate to trust the Afghan government.

In an exclusive interview with private channel, Asif explained that while he had made every effort to resolve issues through dialogue with Kabul, relying on the Afghan government now presents a significant risk. He characterized their current behavior as unacceptable both now and in the future.

The Defense Minister further asserted that the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) serves as a “franchise” of Afghanistan. He argued that without Afghan support, the group would have been eliminated long ago.

Regarding regional stability, Asif noted that rising petroleum prices are affecting the entire world. He referred to Iran and other Islamic nations as “brotherly countries,” expressing hope that the current conflict is merely a temporary phase and that a peaceful solution will soon be found.
