Intermittent rains, including a few heavy showers and isolated hailstorms, are expected in Peshawar and various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting Tuesday night and continuing over the next two days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

A westerly wave is predicted to approach western Pakistan tonight and is likely to affect most parts of the country tomorrow, remaining active until March 20.

Under these conditions, partly cloudy weather is forecast in most upper districts of the province on Tuesday night. Rain accompanied by wind or thunderstorms is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Peshawar, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan.

On Wednesday and Thursday, cloudy weather with intermittent rain or thunderstorms, some heavy showers, and isolated hailstorms is expected in the same districts along with Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, and Charsadda. Snowfall is also forecast over higher mountainous areas.

Daytime temperatures are likely to decrease, and vulnerable areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may face landslides. Lightning strikes are possible in isolated locations, while hailstorms and windstorms could damage standing crops.

Farmers are advised to manage their crops according to the prevailing weather conditions. Tourists and travelers are urged to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 20°C and 22°C on Wednesday and Thursday. Recent weather observations recorded dry conditions across most districts, with cold weather in the upper districts. Dera Ismail Khan recorded the highest temperature in the province at 79°C, while Peshawar’s maximum was 22°C with evening relative humidity at 89 per cent.
