Instagram introduces AI tool to convert photos into videos

Instagram has introduced a new AI-powered feature called “AI Transition”. This tool can turn regular photo carousels in Stories into smooth, animated clips that look like short videos.

To use it, Instagram users must first accept Meta AI’s terms of service. After that, the option appears in the Stories gallery. Users can pick two or more photos, and the AI blends them together, creating movement between the images. The finished clip can be posted as a Story or saved for Reels.

Meta says this feature is a creative way to make photo-based Stories more lively without needing to record videos. It adds to Instagram’s growing AI tools, which already include effects, caption suggestions, and background removal.

The results depend on the photos used. Transitions work best when poses are similar or for themed sequences, like outfit changes or travel photos. Sometimes, the AI can make movements look strange, like unnatural arm or leg positions.

Instagram hopes this feature keeps Stories engaging and helps it compete with platforms like TikTok and Snapchat. AI Transition lets users turn simple photos into moving clips, giving the look and feel of video while keeping the process easy.
