Sony raises PlayStation 5 prices worldwide

28 March, 2026 12:09

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a big increase in the prices of its PlayStation 5 consoles. The new prices will start from April 2, 2026, and will apply to all versions of the console.

Prices Go Up

The PS5 Pro will see the biggest increase of $150, making its new price $899.99. The standard PS5 Disc Edition and Digital Edition will also become more expensive by $100 each. Their new prices will be $649.99 and $599.99.

In Pakistan, the PS5 Pro could cost around Rs. 252,000 before adding taxes and duties, which means the final price may be even higher.

Why Prices Are Increasing

Sony said the price hike is due to global economic problems. These include rising costs of parts like memory and RAM, supply chain issues, higher transport costs, and global tensions affecting tech imports.

The company said these changes are needed to manage costs and continue production.

Impact in Pakistan

Gamers in Pakistan may face higher prices because of extra taxes and import duties. The cost of PS5 consoles could go much higher than Rs. 250,000.

Because of this, many people may try to buy the console before April 2, which could lead to limited stock in stores.

What Experts Say

Experts believe that higher prices may reduce quick buying decisions, especially for younger gamers or those with limited budgets.

So far, Microsoft has not announced any price increase for its Xbox consoles, but it may happen in the future if costs continue to rise.

Final Thoughts

People who want to buy a PS5 have only a few days left to get it at the current price before the new rates start.
