Iran Missile and Drone Strikes Hit UAE, Bahrain Aluminium Plants

29 March, 2026 10:49

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday that it carried out coordinated missile and drone attacks targeting aluminium production facilities in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates over the weekend. The strikes were described as operations against industrial sites allegedly linked to the United States military.

According to a statement broadcast by Iran’s state media, the targeted locations included a major aluminium plant in the UAE and the primary facility of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba). The IRGC claimed these sites were “industries affiliated with and connected to the US military and aerospace sectors in the region”.

The escalation comes amid ongoing regional tensions that began in late February, with Gulf countries increasingly caught in the crossfire of retaliatory actions tied to the US-Israeli military campaign. Iran stated that the latest attacks were in response to strikes on its own industrial infrastructure, which it said were launched from bases located in Gulf states.

Aluminium Bahrain confirmed that its facility was hit on Saturday, leaving two employees injured. The company reported that the workers sustained minor injuries and said it is currently evaluating the operational impact of the incident. No detailed assessment of structural damage has yet been released.

Meanwhile, Emirates Global Aluminium reported that one of its facilities in Abu Dhabi suffered significant damage following the Iranian attack. The company added that six employees were wounded during the strike.

In a related development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a warning on Friday, stating that Israel would pay a “heavy price for Israeli crimes” following reported strikes on Iranian steel and nuclear-linked facilities.

The situation highlights growing instability in the Gulf region, with critical industrial infrastructure increasingly becoming targets in the broader geopolitical conflict.
