Pakistan Warns of Escalating Risks at UN Security Council Amid Iran Tensions

At the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan raised serious concerns over rising regional tensions following recent developments involving Iran.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, stated that the situation has reached a dangerous turning point, warning of the risk of further escalation across the wider region.

Concerns Over Strait of Hormuz

Ambassador Ahmad highlighted that any disruption to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz could have serious economic and security consequences worldwide. The waterway is a critical route for global energy supplies, and instability there could impact international markets.

Call for Ceasefire and Dialogue

Pakistan emphasized that the top priority should be an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, along with renewed diplomatic efforts to ease tensions.
