Iraq Presidential Election Enters Second Round After No Clear Winner
The results of voting for the new president of Iraq have been announced.
No candidate was able to secure two-thirds of the total votes required to win in the first round. As a result, the election has moved into a second round.
In the first round, the vote count was as follows: Nizar Al-Omidi received 208 votes, Methana Amin got 17 votes, Fouad Hussein received 16 votes, and Abdullah Al-Alawi secured 2 votes. There were also 9 invalid votes recorded.
Since no candidate achieved the required majority, the second round of voting has begun. In this round, the candidate who receives the highest number of votes will be declared the new president of Iraq.
The election process is now continuing as political parties look to secure support for their candidates in the final round.
