Electricity consumers in Pakistan may face higher bills as a price increase of 26 paisa per unit is expected for one month. The proposed hike has been requested under the March monthly fuel adjustment mechanism.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is set to conduct a hearing tomorrow on the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) request regarding the adjustment.

According to CPPA data, 8.93 billion units of electricity were generated in March, while 8.64 billion units were supplied to distribution companies (DISCOs). The reference cost for March was set at 7.99 rupees per unit.

Authorities have also confirmed that the proposed price increase will apply to K-Electric consumers as well.
