Punjab Ration Card Scheme 2026 — 50,000 New Beneficiaries Added
The Government of Punjab has announced a major expansion of the Punjab Ration Card Scheme 2026, approving the inclusion of 50,000 additional beneficiaries to strengthen financial assistance for low-income families across the province.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where ongoing social protection programs and welfare initiatives were reviewed in detail.
Officials confirmed that the expansion aims to further extend the social safety net for families living below the poverty line. So far, more than 1.6 million people have benefited from welfare programs such as the ration card scheme, Himmat Card, and Minority Card initiatives.
Under the updated framework, the Punjab Ration Card Scheme 2026 will continue providing monthly support to over 1.4 million beneficiaries in the current fiscal year. In addition, around 200,000 individuals are being supported through the Himmat Card program, further strengthening welfare coverage in the province.
“The government remains committed to prioritizing public welfare and ensuring support for the most vulnerable segments of society,” officials said following the meeting.
Several new directives were also issued to improve social services, including the establishment of formal orphanages for abandoned children, partnerships with credible NGOs for women and child welfare, and maintenance services for wheelchairs and assistive devices.
Authorities also approved the revamping of Sanatzar centers with private sector collaboration and the digitalization of medicine distribution through Zakat funds to improve transparency and efficiency.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the digital transformation of the Social Welfare Department, aiming to modernize its operations and make services more efficient, transparent, and accessible.
The expansion of the Punjab Ration Card Scheme 2026 is part of a broader strategy focused on poverty reduction, economic inclusion, and strengthening social protection systems in the province.
