SUPARCO Predicts Zilhaj Moon Sighting in Pakistan
Pakistan’s space agency, SUPARCO, has shared its prediction regarding the expected sighting of the Zilhaj 1447 Hijri moon.
According to a SUPARCO spokesperson, the new moon is likely to be born on May 17 at 1:01am. The agency said that by the evening of May 17, the moon’s age is expected to be around 18 hours and 30 minutes.
SUPARCO further stated that coastal areas are expected to have a gap of nearly 60 minutes between sunset and moonset, which may improve the chances of moon sighting.
Based on astronomical calculations, SUPARCO has predicted that the first day of Zilhaj is likely to fall on Monday, May 18.
The space agency also expects Eid al-Adha to be observed on May 27 in Pakistan.
