Petrol prices in Pakistan may rise next week
ISLAMABAD:Â Petrol prices in Pakistan may increase once again next week as global oil markets remain unstable due to rising tensions in the Middle East and supply concerns.
Market experts believe the government may pass on the impact of higher international oil prices to consumers in the upcoming fuel price review.
Currently, petrol in Pakistan is priced at Rs409.78 per litre, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) is available at Rs409.58 per litre after the latest revision effective from May 16, 2026.
Reports suggest that if global crude oil prices continue to rise and the government increases the petroleum levy under IMF conditions, fuel prices could go up by Rs5 to Rs15 per litre in the next adjustment. Some estimates also warn that prices may cross Rs430 per litre if the situation in global markets worsens.
Experts say concerns over possible disruptions in key oil shipping routes, along with rising global demand for diesel, are putting extra pressure on countries like Pakistan that rely on oil imports.
According to OGRA, petroleum prices in Pakistan are reviewed every two weeks based on international oil prices and changes in the exchange rate.
