Shahrah-e-Bhutto officially launched as a six-lane signal-free road
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday officially inaugurated Shahrah-e-Bhutto, also known as the Malir Expressway, in Karachi.
The project is one of the city’s major road developments aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion.
The six-lane, signal-free expressway connects Qayyumabad to Kathore on the M-9 Motorway, giving commuters a faster route for travel across the city.
Officials said the new road will help reduce travel time for people going towards the airport, National Highway, and Super Highway.
The expressway includes several interchanges to ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic movement from Qayyumabad to the Kathore Interchange.
The Sindh government developed the project under a public-private partnership model as part of efforts to improve Karachi’s road and transport infrastructure.
Authorities have also introduced traffic rules for the expressway. Motorcycles, rickshaws, and loader vehicles will not be allowed to use the corridor to maintain safety and smooth traffic flow.
