Spotify introduces AI podcasts personalised to user taste and activity

Spotify has introduced a new feature called “Personal Podcast,” which allows users to create private, AI-generated audio episodes inside the app.

Users can simply type a text prompt describing what they want to hear. The system then creates a personalized podcast based on that input, along with the user’s listening habits and interests. Spotify says the feature uses general knowledge and the user’s taste profile to generate custom audio content.

Custom and Scheduled Episodes

The new tool also allows users to schedule regular podcast episodes. This means they can receive daily news briefings, weekly summaries, or topic-based explainers.

For example, users could get daily updates about their city, including events and concerts from their favorite artists, or simple explanations of topics like economics.

Add Your Own Content

Spotify also lets users add extra material such as links, PDFs, and text before generating an episode. Users can refine their prompts and even choose different AI voices for the podcast.

All generated episodes are private and saved in the “Your Library” section. Only the creator can access them.

Rollout Details

The feature will start rolling out in June for eligible Premium users in the United States.

Users will receive a limited number of monthly credits for creating podcasts, with the option to purchase more if needed.

Spotify’s new tool builds on its earlier experimental feature that allowed users to turn saved content into audio using AI tools.
