ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is expected to visit Tehran today (Saturday) to deliver an important message to the Iranian leadership as Pakistan continues to support diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran.

According to sources, Naqvi will meet senior Iranian officials during his visit and convey a key message related to ongoing regional and diplomatic developments.

The expected visit comes as efforts continue to promote dialogue between the United States and Iran.

Sources said Naqvi met Shehbaz Sharif before his departure to discuss the Iran visit. During the meeting, the prime minister provided important guidance regarding discussions with Iranian leaders.

The two leaders also exchanged views on recent developments in US-Iran talks and the overall regional situation.

The interior minister also briefed the prime minister on Pakistan’s internal security situation and measures being taken to maintain law and order.

Earlier, Donald Trump said that Washington did not need a deal with Iran to obtain enriched uranium.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, “We could get it right now. I don’t think they could stop us if we wanted, but there’s no reason to. It’s entombed.”

Trump also said he did not want to meet Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei at present. However, he added that if Washington and Tehran reached an agreement, a meeting could be possible.

Donald Trump said he would be “honoured” to meet the Iranian Supreme Leader if a deal was reached, adding, “If we make a deal, it’s possible that I would meet. I’d be okay with that.”
