Pakistan Passport Department Launches Nationwide Doorstep Delivery Service for Citizens
Pakistan’s Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has announced plans to introduce a nationwide doorstep delivery service for passport applicants, marking a significant step toward modernizing government service delivery across the country.
The decision was reached at a high-level meeting on Tuesday chaired by Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa, during which Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the upcoming doorstep delivery initiative were formally finalized. Participants also reviewed the development of a dedicated Immigration and Passports digital application, with particular emphasis on its online application submission and real-time tracking capabilities. Officials were directed to fast-track the rollout of e-services and digital payment solutions to make the overall process more accessible to citizens.
Reaffirming the department’s direction, DG Randhawa stated that providing the public with speedy, easy, and transparent services remains the top priority of the department.
In a related development, the DGIP is also in active consultations with a private bank to introduce a fully cashless payment infrastructure for passport and immigration fees. A delegation from the bank met with DG Randhawa earlier in the week to finalize the mechanism for the digital rollout. Under the proposed system, citizens will be able to settle all relevant fees directly through a mobile application, and the bank has already commenced development of the underlying infrastructure.
Randhawa underscored that promoting digital payments will make the service delivery process faster and more transparent. Both sides agreed on a final implementation framework aligned with the government’s broader ambition of achieving a cashless Pakistan. Officials pledged that the public would be provided with easy, secure, and modern payment facilities, with further improvements to immigration services also in the pipeline.
The initiative forms part of a wider drive to digitize all government services in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for a technologically empowered and citizen-friendly Pakistan.
