Apple may launch first touchscreen MacBook this year

12 June, 2026 19:31

Apple’s long-rumored touchscreen MacBook may finally arrive later this year, according to new reports and leaks.

A recent claim from a Chinese source suggests that Apple is preparing a MacBook with touchscreen support. Although the exact model has not been confirmed, earlier reports indicate it could be the MacBook Ultra.

So far, Apple has never released a MacBook with a touchscreen. However, recent software updates suggest a possible shift in direction. The macOS 27 “Golden Gate” update includes improved touch input support for Sidecar, allowing users to interact more easily with an iPad used as a secondary display.

The update also introduces several touch-friendly features across Apple apps such as Safari, Mail, and News, including gestures like pull-down to refresh. These changes have increased speculation that touchscreen support may soon come to MacBooks.

Previous reports also suggest the new MacBook could feature an OLED display with advanced touch-based controls and contextual menus. Some rumors even point to a Dynamic Island-style design element, similar to newer iPhone models.

The device is also expected to be powered by Apple’s upcoming M6 chip. However, the upgraded features could come with a higher price tag, possibly around 20% more than current MacBook Pro models.

Apple has not officially confirmed any touchscreen MacBook plans yet, but the growing number of leaks suggests the possibility is becoming more realistic.
