Atta Tarar Urges Opposition to Appreciate Relief for Salaried Employees

The Information Minister Ata Tarar said the salaried class received relief in the budget and urged the opposition to recognize it.

Ata Tarar said in the National Assembly budget session that the assembly is the guardian of democratic values. He said the Leader of the Opposition spoke in a setting where books were set on fire from desks and papers were thrown around.

He more added that, the opposition should acknowledge the positive measures. Salaried workers have received substantial relief, and salaries below fifty thousand will not be taxed.

Earnings between fifty thousand and one hundred thousand are subject to a one percent tax. In a situation of possible default, while many officers have taken leave and put the state’s survival first.

According to Ata Tarar, the IMF meeting was crucial, and without it, current economic progress would not exist. The currency rate in Pakistan was unstable, and LCs for traders were not being issued.

He said that inflation was 38 percent, and he invited us as the opposition leader in the same house to come and do an economic pact. Their finance ministers wrote letters to the IMF. They wanted the country to go bankrupt. The letters written to the IMF are part of the record.

He said that they were writing letters from here so that Pakistan would not get a bailout. There are a lot of efforts by the institutions, the role of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s team is that the country has stabilized. The inflation rate could have come to single digits. What would have happened if the interest rate had remained at 22 percent and not come to 11 percent?

Atta Tarar said that today the foreign exchange is 17.2 billion dollars. They were on the verge of default and there was celebration here. No one asked about sugar tobacco beverages, but we have recovered sixty billion from the sugar industry alone.

Last year, under the supervision of Shahbaz Sharif, the Ministry of Finance and FBR recovered 800 billion in the form of enforcement. The reforms implemented by the FBR will benefit every citizen. A fair system has been implemented so that the burden of non-taxpayers will not be borne by the taxpayers.
