Punjab Government Directs Closure of Theatres in Respect of Muharram

According to an official notification issued by the Punjab Arts Council, the government of Punjab has announced the closure of all theatres across the province from 1st to 13th Muharram.

The notice specified, during 1st to 13th Muharram period that no stage dramas, theatre shows, or cultural events will be allowed during this period, in respect of the sanctity of Muharram.

Starting 13 days of Islamic month all entertainment activities would be strictly ban, officials directed theatre owners and management.

In the meantime, Preparations for Ashura security are being completed across the country. For Muharram processions and gatherings Provincial and district administrations are reviewing routes.

Extra security personnel will be deployed at sensitive locations as per Law enforcement agencies instructions.

During Muharram, to maintain peace, the detailed security and emergency plans will be implemented which help to ensure a smooth and respectful observance of religious events.
