Barun Sobti's Wife Pashmeen Recalls Their Love Story Amid His Health Concerns
Barun Sobti, known for Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, rose to fame as one of television’s most loved leading men. Building on that popularity, he went on to establish himself in the OTT space with acclaimed projects such as Kohrra. The actor is known for his understated acting style, composed personality and careful choice of roles. However, his recent appearance on Farah Khan’s YouTube vlog left fans worried, as he looked visibly tired and unwell.
Many viewers speculated that he could be going through a difficult phase or possibly not eating well. Yet, despite the concern over his health, it was his wife Pashmeen Manchanda’s heartfelt recollection of their love story — from a long-distance relationship to building a life together — that became the highlight of the episode.
Where Barun Sobti And Pashmeen Manchanda First Met
Pashmeen Manchanda told Farah Khan that she and Barun were high school sweethearts, saying, “We are school buddies” and “have known each other since.” Their connection began after she moved from an all-girls school to a co-ed institution. The two stayed connected from their teenage years right into adulthood, eventually getting married in September 2010. Despite pursuing different careers and facing different priorities, the couple managed to stay rooted in their bond.

Pashmeen Manchanda On Her Long-Distance Relationship With Barun Sobti
Pashmeen shared memories of the time she was studying in Melbourne, Australia, juggling academics with work, while Barun was in Mumbai trying to make a name for himself as an actor. She also spoke about her days working at a call centre, indicating that the relationship wasn’t without its share of struggles. The two had to manage a long-distance relationship while simultaneously building their respective careers. It was during this period that Barun landed his first television show and later found major success with Baat Hamari Pakki Hai. Through it all, Pashmeen remained his pillar of support from afar. She recalled:
“We’ve also had a long distance relationship. So, I was away. I was in Australia. I’d gone there to study. And I was working and everything. And he had gotten his first show then. So he was in Bombay. I was actually working in a call center in Delhi. He was here. And he had gotten his first show. Then he got Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, which was a show on Sony. It did really well. And it got quite popular.”

Pashmeen Came Back To India A Month Before Their Wedding
Pashmeen spent years in Melbourne while Barun built his career as a struggling actor in Mumbai. Despite the distance, the relationship grew stronger and eventually progressed toward marriage. Interestingly, Barun didn’t get the chance to meet her family until just a month before their wedding. Though Pashmeen was originally meant to return to India right before the ceremony, she ended up coming back earlier, giving Barun the opportunity to meet her parents. As she put it:
“I was still there [in Melbourne when he got Baat Hamari Pakki Hai]. And I literally came a month before we were getting married. But I had come in between. And that’s when he said, let me meet your parents.”
Barun Sobti And Pashmeen Manchanda’s Life Today
The couple are now parents to two children — daughter Sifat, who is nearly seven, and son Meer, who is almost three, as Pashmeen revealed. According to Barun, the best part of being married is having his partner by his side at all times, unlike during their dating years when distance kept them apart. That said, he admits that certain compromises are essential to maintaining a healthy relationship. He also mentioned that the couple occasionally argues like any normal couple, but nothing ever escalates into something serious. In his words, “There haven’t been any lows as such” in their marriage.
