PSX rises over 2,000 points as buying momentum continues
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its strong performance on Monday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining more than 2,000 points.
At the close of trading, the KSE-100 Index rose by 2,082.49 points, or 1.12%, to finish at 187,454.69.
Strong buying was seen in several major sectors, including automobiles, cement, commercial banks, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration, oil marketing companies, and refineries.
Major stocks such as HUBCO, MARI, OGDC, POL, UBL, and NBP also ended the day with gains.
The market had already performed well last week, with the KSE-100 Index rising more than 3%. Investor confidence improved due to easing tensions in the Middle East, lower global oil prices, and better economic indicators in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the government has launched the InvestPak digital investment portal to make it easier for the public to invest in government securities.
Speaking at the launch, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the government wants to reduce its dependence on commercial banks by expanding public access to government securities through digital investment platforms.
