PDMA Issues Weather Alert for Rain, Strong Winds and Thunderstorms from July 6–8

06 July, 2026 18:00

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert forecasting rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms across several regions from July 6 to July 8. According to the advisory, most districts are likely to experience rainfall, windstorms, and isolated heavy downpours during the period.

The alert warns of possible landslides in northern areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, and Kohistan, along with a risk of rising water levels in streams and seasonal rivers. Urban flooding is also expected in several cities such as Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, and Abbottabad. Officials cautioned that strong winds may damage weak structures, electricity poles, solar panels, and standing crops.

Authorities have directed district administrations, including Lahore, to remain on high alert and ensure emergency preparedness. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from rivers and drainage channels, and keep children away from floodwater and open drains. PDMA has urged the public to contact its helpline 1700 in case of emergencies.
