Azad Kashmir Home Secretary Accuses Banned Committee of Spreading Misinformation

15 July, 2026 18:05

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Home Secretary Chaudhry Guftar Hussain has accused a banned committee of spreading baseless propaganda through social media and inciting unrest under the guise of advocating public rights. Speaking at a press conference, he alleged that the group’s actions were aimed at destabilizing the region rather than addressing genuine public concerns.

The Home Secretary claimed the committee had disrupted daily life for several days and criticized its alleged involvement in encouraging students to participate in protests, describing the move as harmful to the younger generation’s future. He also alleged that armed groups linked to the committee had been directly involved in firing on security personnel and accused the organization of attempting to portray itself as a victim despite engaging in unlawful activities.

Guftar Hussain stressed that the government would not allow anyone to disrupt public order or make life difficult for the people of Azad Kashmir. He also reaffirmed that the Azad Kashmir general elections scheduled for July 27 would be held on time, despite the ongoing tensions.
